Trees for Schools
We're encouraging schools to get involved in this year’s Trees for Schools program to help increase tree canopy cover and create more green spaces for everyone to enjoy.
In partnership with More Trees for a Cooler Greener West, DEECA and local councils, we're offering free native trees, stakes and guards to all primary and secondary schools across our service region.
Key dates:
- EOI opens: Monday 2 March 2026
- EOI closes: Thursday 2 April 2026
- Schools notified: Monday 27 April 2026
- Tree delivery: From Monday 13-20 July 2026
- Recommended planting day: Friday 24 July 2026 - Schools Tree Day!
Who can apply?
All primary and secondary schools in the GWW service region.
Selected schools must:
- involve students in planting
- prepare sites, plant correctly and water regularly
- maintain trees, including weeding and pest protection
What schools can receive:
- Up to 50 native tube stock trees
- Small to medium-sized trees only
- No prickly species
- Guards and stakes included
Please note each Tree Delivery School Box will include a mix of species from the approved list below. These trees have been selected to suit a wide range of school environments. Due to high demand, schools will not be able to choose or customise their tree selection.
