Claim a concession

Is my card eligible?

You can claim a concession if you have:

• a Pensioner Concession Card
• a Health Care Card
• a Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card

You can only register one card for your property.

If you hold an eligible concession card but your name is not on the bill, contact us.

To claim a concession

You must:

• be the main account holder
• be applying for the property you live at
• have the same name and address on your card and on your bill.

If your card and account details don’t match, contact Services Australia or the Department of Veterans' Affairs to update your card.

We also provide life support concessions (for haemodyalisis machines).

To apply for a concession on a business property, contact the State Revenue Office.

How much is the concession?

You will receive discounts on the water, sewerage and usage charges.

For the 2025/26 financial year, the following concession amounts can be applied to residential accounts:

• 50% rebate on water and sewerage charges up to a yearly maximum of $372.10
• 50% rebate on single service, e.g. water only, up to a maximum of $186.05

The concession amount is distributed evenly across the bills you receive from us each year.

We can backdate concessions up to 12 months from your application dates. Contact Centrelink for backdated concessions greater than 12 months.

What’s not included in the concession

You can’t claim a concession:

• on the Parks Charge we collect for Parks Victoria
• on the Waterways and Drainage Charge we collect for Melbourne Water
• when you are a landlord and not living at the property.

• Log in to My GWW and select 'Register for a concession'

• Download the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing's concession application and send it to:

Processing your application

Once we receive your application, it can take up to five working days to process.

When your application is approved, we will apply the concession to your next bill.
