We’re not just delivering training, we’re building expertise that keeps communities flowing.
Our purpose
At the Greater Western Water Training Academy, we deliver the specialised training that powers the water sector. Our mission is to ensure every staff member, from front-line field crews to technical operators, is equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform safely, efficiently, and to industry standards. Ensuring every employee returns home safely to their family at the end of each day.
Through collaboration with our Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), internal teams, and neighbouring water corporations, we support a capable and responsive workforce ready to meet the operational demands of our fast-growing region.
Our facility
Our Training Academy is a purpose-built space that was created in July 2021 with the integration of Western Water and City West Water. With dedicated classrooms and simulated work environments, participants gain hands-on experience using real tools, techniques, and scenarios reflective of their everyday roles.
From confined space entry and safety awareness to technical systems and emergency response our immersive facility prepares learners to tackle challenges with confidence and competence.
Our partnerships
We’re proud to work alongside a network of trusted RTOs. These partnerships allow us to deliver nationally recognised qualifications and tailored training experiences that reflect the latest industry best practices and compliance standards.

Together, we foster an engaging learning environment that supports career development, ensures regulatory alignment, and caters to the diverse roles across the water sector. Whether it’s classroom-based learning or practical field instruction, our partnerships help us deliver excellence.
Over the past four years, our Training Academy has strategically developed strong business partnerships with leading water corporations across Victoria, including Central Highlands Water, Wannon Water, Southeast Water, and Barwon Asset Solutions. These collaborations have extended our network nationally, positioning us as a trusted training partner within the water industry.
In addition to delivering our own internal training programs, we welcome employees from other water corporations and industry partners to utilise our training facilities and purpose-built infrastructure by attending training programs at the academy. This allows them to gain practical, hands-on experience in a safe and controlled environment that reflects real-world conditions relevant to their day-to-day work. By opening our doors to the broader industry, we continue to strengthen capability across the sector and support a skilled, confident, and safety-conscious workforce.
