Melbourne's drinking water is world-class. Yet we still drink more bottled water than ever, creating mountains of plastic waste. 

The Choose Tap initiative works with our community to make choosing tap water easy, and to promote tap water as the most sustainable drink.

Find a Choose Tap drinking fountain near you

To make it easy to find clean, safe tap water while you are on the go, we’ve partnered with local councils and organisations to install Choose Tap water fountains around Melbourne’s west.

The water fountains are conveniently located so you can safely and easily fill your reusable drink bottles while you are out and about.

Did you know...

  • Every year, each Australian uses over 140kg of plastic.
  • Plastic bottles are in the top 10 rubbish items found on Cleanup Australia Day.
  • Less than 20 per cent of plastic gets recycled.
  • Around 80 per cent of plastic ends up as landfill or litter.
  • More than 90 per cent of the cost of a bottle of water is for the lid, bottle or label.
