Project overview
We’re renewing the existing water main along Francis Street, between King Street and Spencer Street in the Melbourne CBD. The renewal also includes King Street, between Collins Street and Francis Street.
The project will mean that we can continue to deliver a safe and reliable water service for our customers and community.
Why the project is needed
The existing water main along Francis Street was constructed in 1957 and is approaching the end of its operational life. We’re replacing the water main to ensure that we can continue to deliver a safe and reliable water service for our customers and community.
Benefits for the region
We have on ongoing program to renew the water and sewer mains across our region. This helps ensure consistent and reliable services for all of our customers, and infrastructure that can keep up with growth and future demand.
Local impacts
While we do our best to reduce any impacts, there will be some impacts during our water main renewal works. You may notice:
- Changes to local traffic and parking during working hours
- Construction noise and working crews
- Changes to water temperature or pressure during works.
