The project will mean that we can continue to deliver a safe and reliable water service for our customers and community.
Why the project is needed
The existing water main along Queen Street was constructed in 1962 and is approaching the end of its operational life. We’re replacing the water main to ensure that we can continue to deliver a safe and reliable water service for our customers and community.
Benefits for the region
We have on ongoing program to renew the water and sewer mains across our region. This helps ensure consistent and reliable services for all of our customers, and infrastructure that can keep up with growth and future demand.
Local impacts
Works will take about 12-14 weeks to complete and will be staged to minimise impacts to businesses and the community. While we do our best to reduce any impacts, there will be some impacts during our water main renewal works. You may notice:
Changes to local traffic on Queen Street, including lane and road closures
Parking spaces on Queen Street will be impacted while works take place in that section
Construction noise and dust from machinery and vehicles.
We are working closely with impacted residents and businesses on Queen Street to ensure access is maintained at all times and disruption is minimised.
