Greater Western Water takes next step in reconciliation journey
16 March 2026
Greater Western Water (GWW) is proud to take the next step in our reconciliation journey with the launch of our second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
This new two-year plan builds on the progress of our first Innovate RAP and strengthens the way we work with Traditional Owners and First Nations communities. It focuses on deepening cultural understanding and creating meaningful change across our business.
As a water business, we work every day on Country, and we know that caring for water is deeply connected to caring for culture, community and the places we all share. We recognise this great privilege we hold and remain committed to listening, learning and engaging respectfully with First Nations communities and Traditional Owners.
“We know reconciliation is not a project or moment in time – it’s everyone’s responsibility, every day. It means asking how each interaction and decision can strengthen reconciliation and make a real difference,” GWW Managing Director, Cameron FitzGerald said.
This RAP reflects honest conversations with First Nations communities, our RAP Steering Committee and our people. Their insights have helped us see where we’re making progress and where we need to go further. It includes actions to support cultural learning, strengthen relationships and explore opportunities for cultural and economic benefit through our land and water assets.
Through this plan, we will:
support First Nations businesses, suppliers and networks
deepen understanding and appreciation of First Nations cultures, histories, knowledge and rights
respect cultural protocols and understand their purpose and significance
embed Traditional Owner perspectives, values and knowledge into our water planning, water management and programs, and
increase employment opportunities for First Nations peoples.
We also invite our communities to walk alongside us, share their perspectives and help shape the way we care for Country.
