Greater Western Water’s grants to support 28 community groups to thrive
24 June 2025
Greater Western Water's (GWW) Thriving Communities Grants and Sponsorship program is supporting 28 community groups to help make community projects, events and activities happen in 2025/26.
After receiving a record number of applications this year compared with any other year, GWW has awarded approximately $180,000 in grants and sponsorships to local groups across its service region.
GWW's General Manager of Strategy and Partnerships Kessia Thomson said the organisation was overwhelmed by the number and quality of applications this year.
"We're supporting more projects than ever before, and we can't wait to see them come to life over the next 12 months."
"We're supporting a diverse range of projects that will support positive liveability, education, sustainability and health and wellbeing outcomes for our customers and communities across every corner of our service region.” Ms Thomson said.
Community groups can apply for up to $20,000 for community grants and up to $5,000 for local community sponsorship. Now in its fourth year, the program has funded more than 90 projects since 2022.
This year's grants include funding to support:
West Welcome Wagon's Community Reach Out Days in Wyndham, Brimbank and Melton, which support refugees, asylum seekers, and those in extreme need by providing access to quality donated items and fostering connections with local services.
Bacchus Marsh Platypus Alliance's Clean Site for Platypus project, which aims to help restore and enhance the local river system, supporting the local platypus population to survive and thrive in the long term.
Lions Club of Riddells Creek's Pollinator Garden project for the Lions Memorial Park, which will be filled with pollinator plants and capture stormwater on site.
