Cameron FitzGerald to join Greater Western Water as new Managing Director
19 December 2025
Greater Western Water is pleased to announce the appointment of Cameron FitzGerald as our new Managing Director, commencing 2 February 2026.
Cameron brings more than 20 years of experience in the water sector, including leadership roles at Southern Rural Water, Melbourne Water and City West Water – one of GWW's legacy organisations. This connection gives Cameron a deep understanding of our service region and the communities we serve, which will be invaluable as we plan for the future needs of one of Australia's fastest-growing areas.
Cameron will join the Greater Western Water team on 2 February 2026.
He has led major water security initiatives including the Target 155 taskforce during the Millennium Drought, setting water-saving behaviours that remain part of Melbourne’s water culture today.
Cameron will guide Greater Western Water through this next phase, stabilising systems and building the foundations for long-term success, while investing in modern systems, resilient infrastructure and services that meet the needs of every community we serve. His vision includes ensuring cultural knowledge and connection to Country are part of how we deliver water services for generations to come.
We recognise this has been a challenging time for our organisation and stabilising our billing system remains a priority. At the same time, we're looking ahead – planning for housing growth, climate resilience and sustainable water management across Melbourne's west and the Macedon Ranges.
Welcoming Cameron is an important step as we maintain momentum to deliver a better experience for our customers and communities.
We thank Craig Dixon for his leadership as Acting Managing Director since July 2025, providing steady guidance and focus through this planned transition.
With strong leadership and a committed team, we're ready to keep improving and deliver for the future. We look forward to introducing Cameron to our customers, communities and partners in the new year.
