Our women in STEM: building a better future for the next generation
16 May 2023
Meet Anafrid
Anafrid Bennet is our Head of Technology, Security and Property. She graduated with a computer science engineering degree and has always felt driven to serve people.
While our core purpose is to deliver water to your homes, there’s much more to working at GWW than just water. Anafrid began her career with us as an Information Security Manager and since then has planned, built and maintained the systems that support our work.
Now, Anafrid is an award-winning leader in the water industry. Most recently, Anafrid was honoured as the Next CIO winner for 2023 at the CIO50 Awards.
In 2021 and 2022, Anafrid was highly commended as 'One to Watch in IT Security' by the Australian Women in Security Awards. Her achievements were also recognised in the Chief Security Officer (CSO 30) Australian awards.
In the early years of her career, Anafrid says she was unsatisfied.
“I felt something was missing, I wanted to see solutions come to life. Then becoming a mum made it feel even more important to build a better and healthier future for the next generation."
Nowadays, Anafrid’s inspiring the next generation. Victoria University recently invited her to present at their Open Day where she encouraged young women to study STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
In her day-to-day, Anafrid brings empathy, kindness, love and strong conviction to her role. She’s working to protect our environment and the community.
“I lead people to deliver innovative, efficient and secure solutions to protect our people, land, and water. At the same time, I want to build a culture of value creation, and a safe work environment through meaningful and respectful collaboration.”
These qualities are reflected in Anafrid’s many career highlights, including creating and leading GWW’s cyber security strategy, which ensures a safe digital environment for everyone.
“I’ve built meaningful and trusted relationships around the business to help everyone understand that safety and wellbeing are also digital safety and wellbeing."
We’re much more than water and there’s plenty of ways that you can work with us. Go to our careers page to see the latest opportunities and find out more about why you should work at GWW.
