Thriving Communities Grants: Applications now open for 2025
5 March 2025
Greater Western Water's (GWW) Thriving Communities grants and sponsorships program is back for 2025, supporting local projects and community activities that make our region a better place to live.
Community groups and local organisations can apply for:
Up to $20,000 for projects
Up to $5,000 for community activities
From festivals and sustainability projects to health and wellbeing initiatives, we're proud to back ideas that bring people together and strengthen our communities.
Why apply? Since 2022, GWW has funded more than 60 projects, helping to create greener spaces, celebrate culture, and foster inclusion. Recent recipients include:
Friends of Kororoit Creek, have built frog bogs and planted water-cleansing reeds —creating vital habitats for frogs and platypus.
Essendon Canoe Club, whose Come and Try initiative is introducing more people to canoeing on the Maribyrnong River, making water sports more accessible for diverse communities.
GWW's General Manager for Strategy and Partnerships, Kessia Thomson, said the program is about investing in projects that make a real difference to the community.
"Our service area is diverse, vibrant and growing and we're supporting initiatives that help people feel connected and included.
