Thriving Communities grants help bring joy to communities during festive season
10 December 2025
Greater Western Water is sponsoring four community Christmas events through our Thriving Communities program. In 2025 we provided $20,000 in sponsorships to support community groups to spread Christmas cheer across their communities.
These events help support our diverse, vibrant and growing service area, enabling everyone to participate in the life of our region.
Our Thriving Communities program helps our community deliver local events, projects and activities that connect people, promote a sense of belonging and make our service area a great place to live, work and play. The program has funded over 90 projects and events since 2022, with more applications in 2025 than any other.
Greater Western Water’s General Manager of Strategy and Partnerships Kessia Thomson said that it is important that we celebrate and support our community at this time of year.
We love seeing the community getting involved and bringing these events to life - we know how much it means to our community to come together and celebrate at this time of year.
Just like Santa and his reindeer, our service area is far reaching. We value the program as it allows us to be 'present' in our community.
The events we are supporting are:
12 December - The Lions Gisborne Festival which is a free and inclusive event that brings the community together to celebrate the festive season.
13 December - Christmas at the Lakes in Point Cook, which celebrates the festive season and the diversity of the local community.
20 December - Footscray City Band's Carols in the Gardens, which celebrates the magic of the festive season with a night of music and celebration.
6 – 21 December - Christmas in Romsey is a multifaceted event honouring the festive season. Local businesses and community groups are invited to decorate a tree for the Main Street Christmas Tree Installation – and we have our own Greater Western Water decorated tree on display this year.
