While the Multicultural Music, Dance and Food Festival is cultural celebration, the event also promotes environmental awareness and sustainable water use in the community.

Removing invasive weeds from the Pinkerton Link Wildlife Corridor will make room for the growth of indigenous plants, creating a habitat for native animals to live in the area. Many of the area’s native plants and animals are endangered due to increased urbanisation and decreasing habitat. The project helps to sustain and enhance the area’s existing biodiversity.

Through culturally safe programming and partnerships, the series will create spaces where Women of Colour can thrive, feel seen, and build lasting community.
INCommunity offers a range of life-skill focused services, ranging from health support to youth mentoring, budgeting advice and family violence resources. Their new factory will host a regular community cafe to build a sense of community among locals and offer a place for those in need to access essential items.
The volunteer-run Gardening Club at the Sunbury Children’s Garden shows children how to plant and grow fruit and vegetables, encourages healthy eating and allows children to spend time outdoors with their friends. By spending time gardening, children learn the value of patience and fresh produce.
Christmas At The Lakes celebrates the festive season and the diversity of the local community. It welcomes all diverse and multi-cultural groups, especially new residents, and is designed so everyone feels included.
The Cricket Blast Program, run by Grand United Cricket Club, offers children from Sunshine the chance to learn to play cricket, and improve their physical fitness, learn a new skill, meet new people and spend time outdoors.
The program begins with 20 weeks of collaborative theatre-making workshops led by professional artists. These sessions build connection and creative skills, and lead to three public performance events at Wyndham Cultural Centre, The Bowery Theatre St Albans and Bluestone Church Arts Space, Footscray.
NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC week is held in July and gives all Australians an opportunity to learn about First Nations Cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
The Western Metro NAIDOC Ball invites the community from seven local government areas to come together, meet new people and celebrate at the end of NAIDOC week.
